I can’t vouch for this product–not yet anyway–but I’ve requested a free sample and I’ll be giving it a try soon. (Thank you to CBS 2 Morning News for running the segment on this product.) Skin Wear is a product that claims to not only kill 99.9% of germs for up to 8 hours, but, also boasts that it creates an all-natural, non-slippery, silicon-free, alcohol-free weave that forms a bond with the skin. “Dirt and grime are “packed” into micro packages that lift and release away from the skin, allowing the harshest soilants to be easily removed with a damp sponge or water rinse. NOW, NO HARMFUL, SKIN-DAMAGING SOAPS OR CONSTANT SCRUBBING REQUIRED.”
My hands take an awful beating with all my animal work, both at home and out on the streets, dog walking. I think I’ll give this a try and I’ll let you know my opinion of it.
I remembered the name of the baggies I prefer for complying with the Pooper Scooper Laws of NYC: Dualle Bag-RR I don’t use the pick up pole, just the bags. I use them in the traditional way by placing my hand in the bag, inside out, picking up the poop, and then turning the bag back right-side-out.
Incidentally, something I do with all the dogs I walk that you might also like to practice is to teach the dog to sit and stay (or wait) while you get the baggie and pick up the deposit. I can’t tell you how much easier and cleaner this sit/stay makes my pooper scooping life. There’s no mystery to it if you are walking a dog who has been through basic obedience training. Just apply the sit/stay (or wait) to this situation. Ultimately, the dog learns to sit and wait on his or her own without even being asked.Do you have any supplies or special dog-walking equipment to recommend? If so, please post a comment with the information.
