Images of my best boy and his littermate, Sullivan. Gilbert lost his brief battle this morning. His big heart just couldn’t keep him going any longer. Truly, there has never been a sweeter head-butter-tabby-cat.
My little bottle-fed baby boy. Today my heart is broken. In time, I will write about you. For now, I’ll post some images that tell your beautiful story from that February day you and Sullivan were found newborn in the snow, to this morning, letting you go, to end your suffering.
Please enjoy these photographs of my dear tabby cat, Gilbert and if you are moved to write a comment wishing him God Speed across Rainbow Bridge, Thank You.
- I’ve edited this entry to add this link to a Pet Loss Tribute site (thank you for sharing the link, Bonni). And here are some additional pet loss resources:

I have more links I’ll add to the permanent page for Gilbert. Here is one that might interest others who have lost a pet or human loved one: Mourning Lights are glass votive candle holders that are printed with a photo of your loved one and an insciption. Very nice to have as a holiday tradition I think, to remember our loved ones and have them near at holidays.
Another memorial idea might be the planting of a tree: Tree Givers (I think my dogs might really appreciate that one.)

And then there was the time you met Copper!
With Sullivan, all grown up. When we learned that Sullivan’s eyes had never formed, I decided not to put you up for adoption so that you could be Sully’s seeing-eye-cat. You served your brother well, Gilbert. Because of you, Sullivan moves about as well as any sighted cat. He will miss you terribly, I know.
And finally, my favorite photo of my boy caught with our almost finished bottle of Amaretto
